Setanta signs in-game ad deal with Konami

LONDON - Pay-TV broadcaster Setanta has made its first foray into in-game advertising after a reciprocal deal with Konami that will see branding in the latest Pro Evolution Soccer franchise in exchange for TV sponsorship.

Setanta will be the only advertiser in the latest UK release of Pro Evolution Soccer video game, which is released on 17 October.

Under the terms of the deal, Setanta ads will be shown on the static perimeter boards shown during the game. Setanta branding will also appear on the game's website PESRankings.com and on PESfan.com and PES live events.

The deal will also see Konami sponsor Setanta's live footage of European league football, including the German Bundesliga, the Dutch Eredivise and Spanish La Liga, as well as Setanta.com and Setantasports.com.

Timothy Ryan, GB marketing director of Setanta Sports, said digital and interactive marketing has proved to be the most efficient and effective way to attract new subscribers.

The partnership was brokered by leading in-game advertising specialist New Street Media.
