Sega Worms in deal to sponsor MTV's Jackass follow-up

LONDON - MTV UK & Ireland has signed Sega's 'Worms 3D' as the sole sponsor for the new programme 'Wildboyz', the follow-up to the hugely successful 'Jackass'.

'Wildboyz' is presented by Steve-O and Chris Pontius, part of the original 'Jackass' team. They have moved to performing stunts involving wild animals in far-flung countries. The show debuts in the UK on November 19.

Sega is pushing the launch of the 'Worms 3D' game through a sponsorship of the programme, which will see the game featured on the show's promotional material and credits. It is the sole television advertising for the game. The sponsorship deal was negotiated through Viacom Brand Solutions, the sales house for MTV UK & Ireland.

Matthew Woodley, European marketing director for Sega Europe, said: "'Wildboyz' on MTV is an excellent audience fit for 'Worms 3D'. The show has a humorous, fast-paced and quirky feel, which appeals directly to the audience who have enjoyed the 'Worms' game and are eagerly looking forward to the next instalment. This is a high-profile opportunity to exploit the links between the two brands and bring 'Worms 3D' to a wider audience."

Stunts to be shown on 'Wildboyz' include swimming with bears in Alaska, running naked with ostriches and running naked with reindeer.
