Sega signs Red Bull to feature in new Worms 3D game

LONDON - Sega Europe has signed energy drink Red Bull and Danish dance duo Junior Senior to appear in the new version of its addictive multiplayer game 'Worms 3D'.

Gamers will see the popular Red Bull energy drink feature as a special "power-up" that restores energy to worms in the game when a bonus is picked up.

Junior Senior appear with an exclusive new track 'Shake Your Coconuts', which will be featured on the game prior to the single's official UK release in December.

Due for release across Europe on October 31, 'Worms 3D' is the first 3D incarnation of the highly acclaimed and best-selling 'Worms' franchise.

Sarah Tinsley, head of entertainment marketing at Red Bull UK, said: "Red Bull has long energised the computer games industry, and it seemed only natural to extend this relationship by working with 'Worms 3D'. We were especially keen to get involved in this project, because the game is dynamic, exciting and perfectly communicates the functional benefits of Red Bull."

This latest version marks the first time a 'Worms' game appears simultaneously on all major games consoles including PlayStation2 and Microsoft's Xbox, as well as the PC.

In the game, teams of worms battle across bizarre, randomly generated landscapes using an arsenal of weapons -- from bazookas and grenades to sheep and aggressive grannies.

The game was developed by privately owned software firm Team 17 Software in West Yorkshire, which has also developed games including 'Alien Breed', 'Project X', 'Superfrog', 'Phoenix' and 'Stunt GP'.
