He was most recently a consultant for live events specialist Mayton Consultants, after working for i2i Events for approximately two and half years. The SECC cites his extensive knowledge of organising large-scale exhibitions as his particular strength, along with a strong background in sales and management.
Peter Duthie, chief executive of the SECC, said: "I am delighted that Dan has accepted the role of director of exhibition sales. Dan’s extensive experience extends to both exhibition sales and in-house as an organiser, which will be a valuable asset to the company.
"With the recent opening of the SSE Hydro on site, this appointment comes at a pivotal stage as we are now able to utilise much more of the SECC campus for exhibitions. We look forward to welcoming him on board as we focus on the long-term future and success of this key sector of our business."
Thurlow added: "I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity of the position of director of exhibition sales at the SECC at this exciting time and look forward to working with the team to develop future growth of exhibitions within the business.
"I am confident that we can build on the venue’s reputation for client service and experience and bring new events to Glasgow."
