School Food Trust hires Spinnaker for meals brief

LONDON - The School Food Trust has appointed integrated agency Spinnaker to create a teacher and pupil focused campaign to support the government agency's 'Million meals' initiative.

The aim of the campaign for , which was set up by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, is to get 1m more children in England to eat school lunches by the end of 2010.

Spinnaker has created a pack to be sent to headteachers which includes National Curriculum-supported lesson plans, activity sheets, handouts and interactive whiteboard activities. The materials are designed to be used in classrooms and encourage parental support for school meals.

The government's "Million meals" campaign was launched by Ed Balls, secretary of state for schools, in October last year and is supported by the Food Standards Agency, the Local Government Association and National Governors Association.

Million Meals forms part of the government's pledge to tackle childhood obesity and encourage healthier lifestyles among children in the UK.

Wendy Culley, account director at Spinnaker, said: "Working with the School Food Trust [will] help to deliver an important message to improve children's health and wellbeing."
