According to reports, the review will only include global roster agencies Initiative Media and Universal McCann, both part of the Interpublic Group, and Publicis Groupe's ZenithOptimedia, which works on the bulk of the UK account.
The account could be awarded to one agency or remain split between several shops.
Kelly Semrau, director of global communications and public affairs at SC Johnson, said: "As part of a routine business practice, SC Johnson is currently evaluating its media buying in some countries. As a privately held company, this evaluation process will remain confidential."
SC Johnson's brands include Mr Muscle, Pledge, Toilet Duck and Vanish. The company, based in Wisconsin, pushes the fact that it is still owned by the Johnson family, which has even starred in some of the US advertising campaigns.
It started out as a parquet flooring company in 1886 but founder Samuel Johnson developed his own range of floor-care products. Johnson's Prepared Paste Wax became a success and 115 years later the company sells its products in 70 countries.
