The humanitarian charity wants to enlist millions of new supporters by 2015 and wants high profile campaigns along the lines of Make Poverty History to help it do so.
The role reports to Save the Children's head of campaigns and advocacy, Leora Hanser, and requires knowledge of multimedia campaign techniques. The candidate will work closely with Save the Children's fundraising division as well as managing a team of five, including three campaign managers.
"We want to engage with mass numbers of supporters and to do so, become more campaign focused," a spokesperson for Save the Children said. "For instance, our ‘Knit one, save one' campaign asked people to knit hats for children in the developing world and 800,000 hats produced. That raised awareness and got people involved.
Last year Whitewater was appointed as the charity's DM agency after a three-way pitch, replacing incumbent Partners Andrews Aldridge. The agency has been tasked with reinvigorating Save the Children's donor acquisition programme with a range of new creative and media tests.
In late 2007 the NSPCC's head of direct donor marketing Marian Rose joined Save the Children as director of new product and market development.
