Rival handset manufacturers Samsung and HTC are  looking to hire agencies to re-invigorate their social-media strategies.

Samsung is on the hunt for a digital agency to handle its global social-media account, while HTC has approached agencies to look after its pan-European activity.

Both brands are already active in the social-media space, but are keen to differentiate themselves in a crowded market.

In November, Samsung became the first brand in the UK to advertise on YouTube’s mobile site, in support of its Galaxy Tab.

HTC is running a campaign for its Wildfire handset on its Facebook page. Visitors to the page are asked to submit an idea for what they would do if they could get all of their Facebook friends together in one place for the day.

Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and HTC handsets use Google’s Android operating system.
