Samaritans marks Mental Health Awareness Month with a potentially life-saving spot.
It shows a small talk enthusiast as she starts conversations with strangers in a range of scenarios, including a rained-out garden party and a sunny beach. Things take a dark turn, however, when she notices an upset-looking man standing on a train platform. By talking to a stranger, the protagonist shows that a few words can make a difference in interrupting someone’s suicidal thoughts.
Samaritans’ campaign has been released in partnership with Network Rail, British Transport Police, and the wider rail industry. It was created by Ian Ray and directed by Stuart Hackshaw through The Progress Film Company.
