Branson, who is 22, will present a series called 'Kiss the Planet', which will run throughout 2008 and air across the whole network. It will follow his adventures as he treks across the Canadian Arctic to highlight the issue of global warming.
He will cover the 1,400-mile expedition by blogging, photographing and calling in to the Kiss breakfast show to give updates, and makes his debut tomorrow. He is part of a team which will make the three-month trek led by veteran polar explorer Will Steger.
Branson said: "There are two reasons I'm doing this. The main one is to be part of the small expedition team which will chart the landscape of the coastal areas of Ellesmere Island to see how fast the environment is changing. The second is to pass on the message to my generation that we should be more aware of what's going on and proactive on the issues of global warming."
Kiss, which is now part of Bauer after its acquisition of Emap Radio , has supplied Branson with a satellite phone and broadcasting equipment for the expedition.
Throughout the expedition, Sam will be calling in to breakfast hosts Rickie and Melvin to give the latest updates on his ice-bound adventure. It has also created a dedicated to the project.
