Burberry unveils spring collection with Beaton-inspired ads

LONDON - Burberry has launched its spring collection with an advertising campaign inspired by Cecil Beaton and starring Kate Moss in shots taken by Mario Testino.

With the cocaine scandal firmly behind her and rumours of a Thailand beach wedding to boyfriend Pete Doherty surfacing, Moss is firmly back in Burberry's good books.

The new campaign for Burberry's spring 2007 collection is inspired by photographer Cecil Beaton, famous for his Sixties shots of artists, pop stars and royalty, and features 12 images shot in the East End of London.

Burberry has signed top male models, and sons of Bryan Ferry, Isaac and Otis Ferry, as well as Richard Branson's son Sam Branson. In addition to Moss, the campaign also features Stella Tennant alongside Lily Donaldson and Georgia Frost.

In other shots to feature in the campaign, Max Irons, son of actor Jeremy Irons, is shot alongside Sophie Dahl.

Testino said: "We agreed the look we wanted to achieve was a mix of Beaton imagery and the 60s feeling in London, reinterpreted with the people and the vigour of today. It's the new swinging London."

The brand stood by the supermodel in November 2005 after the Daily Mirror printed pictures of her snorting cocaine and she was dropped by other brands. Moss has starred in nine out of 16 of Burberry's campaigns since 1998.

Moss lost contracts with Chanel and Gloria Vanderbilt after the scandal, but she has since signed deals with the brands such as Calvin Klein, Virgin Mobile and Agent Provocateur.
