It is understood to be briefing the incumbent Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Mother, Wieden & Kennedy and MullenLowe London.

The review process is being handled by the AAR but Sainsbury’s is yet to confirm that this is a formal pitch.

Earlier in the process, the supermarket met with CHI & Partners and Grey London.

Sainsbury’s has been looking to revive the brand for some time, looking for a stronger cultural connection.

AMV BBDO picked up the account in 1981 when it was known as Abbott Mead Vickers.

The last review of the business was in 2005 and the agency beat J Walter Thompson to keep hold of the account.
