Rourke appointed senior vice-president of MTV Networks International

NEW YORK - MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, has appointed Paul Rourke as senior vice-president and chief financial officer for MTV Networks International, replacing Salar Farzad who left the company last year.

Rourke, who will remain based in New York, will be responsible for all financial functions and matters across all regional operations and business units.

He will be reporting to Colette Chestnut, executive vice-president and chief financial officer of MTV Networks, and Alex Ferrari, chief operating officer of MTVNI.

Ferrari said: "During this period of transformation at MTV Networks International, we are mobilising resources to build our multiplatform brand portfolios in priority markets and expand our growing revenue areas such as ad sales, digital media, program sales and consumer products.

"Paul's domestic expertise as well as his background supporting the company's global consumer products business will help position us well for our next phase of international growth."

Rourke joined MTV Networks in July 2006 as senior vice-president of corporate finance. Prior to joining the company, he worked as senior vice-president of treasury operation for CBS Radio in the US.

Last year, MTVNI experienced accelerated growth through the acquisition of MTV Japan and the launch of nine new TV channels, broadband, cross-platform and social networking services, including Flux in the UK.

MTV Networks owns and operates 135 channels worldwide including Nickelodeon, MTV: Music Television, and Comedy Central.
