Roger Parry joins YouGov as non-executive chairman

LONDON - Roger Parry, the veteran media industry figure, has branched out into market research by adding YouGov to his handful of non-executive chairmanships.

YouGov was founded in 2000 and has pioneered the use of the internet and IT in the collection of research. With ambitions to grow beyond the UK, it has decided to recruit its first non-executive chairman and move chairman and co-founder Peter Kellner to the role of president.

Kellner saluted the "drive and enthusiasm" of Parry, a former chairman and chief executive of outdoor media giant Clear Channel who is currently non-executive chairman of regional newspaper group Johnston Press, magazine publisher Future and mobile content producer Mobile Streams.

In addition, he is chairman of the Shakespeare's Globe Trust and has four other directorships including Clear Channel.

Parry was also linked to a possible bid for ITV, but although he is understood to have looked at the business he did not make a bid.

Kellner said: "He has considerable experience of both the media sector and international business."
