Rocket, part of the Omnicom Media Group, retained the business after a pitch against MediaCom North and Mindshare that ended in a head-to-head final stage between Rocket and MediaCom, after Mindshare was eliminated.

following its recent acquisition of the Somerfield supermarket chain and the Britannia Building Society.

The pitch was overseen by the Co-op's procurement department and included an "online auction" stage ahead of the pitches which saw agencies ranked according to their media pricing.

In January, the group appointed TBWA\Manchester as its lead creative agency as part of a review to cull its roster.
