Rivals launches daily email for World Cup

Digital sports network Rivals Digital Media is launching a daily email newsletter from its Rivals.net and Football365 sites.

Rivals.net will distribute the HTML-based newsletter called The Score from this week. It will be branded either Rivals.net or Football365.com, according to the service the user signs up to, and will be sent daily at 3pm to 175,000 registered users. It will offer news features and message boards and carry content about the World Cup.

To promote the newsletter, Rivals Digital Media will run a national marketing and promotional campaign across its portfolio of sites to encourage more football fans to sign up.

Advertisers will be given the opportunity to buy ad space on the newsletter.

Chris Reed, marketing director at Rivals Digital Media, said: "By providing a daily email newsletter, we hope to satisfy those avid football fans who crave a regular football update, but can't spare the time to track daily events themselves."

Rivals recently announced it will charge £25 a year for full access to one of its Formula One web sites.
