Rivals Digital Media adds games channel

Online sports network Rivals Digital Media (RDM) has turned to games in a bid to increase ad revenues across its sites.

RDM has tied up with seven games providers to launch a dedicated channel across its four sports sites: Rivals.net, Football365, PlanetRugby.com and PlanetF1.com.

The games will feature third-party ads sold by RDM, which will share pay-to-play revenues with games partners. The partners are: Gamesys, Get Minted, 43 PLC, CYOP Systems, Cat Games, M4 and Jagex.

The zone has seven main games sections: Instants, Quiz, Chance, Fantasy, Mobile Quiz, Java Games and Skill.

As part of a cross-network marketing campaign designed to drive traffic to the channel, banners, buttons, towers and skyscrapers will run across the four sites. RDM's email news-letter, 'The Score', will offer details of the channel to 170,000 registered users of Rivals.net and Football365.

Each partner will also receive advertising on RDM's sites to drive traffic directly into their games within the channel.

Steve Clarke, director of business development at RDM, said: "Our sites' user base is predominantly male and aged 18 to 35, which is the right demographic fit for online gaming."
