Rieker shoes appoints Feel for brand development

LONDON - Integrated agency Feel has picked up the marketing account for Rieker, one of Europe's biggest shoe manufacturers, following an undisclosed pitch.

Feel has been briefed to help raise awareness and develop the Rieker and DRS brands Dorndorf, Remonte and Servas. The agency will work across all media including direct mail.

The brand has also hired Alex Thomson from shoe company Start-Rite as its new sales manager, who will be responsible for spearheading the manufacturer's first move into the youth market with Rieker Teens.

Feel's first work includes a promotion across 43 Scholl shops, offering consumers the chance to win a trip to Champneys health spa.

Reiker's managing director Ewen Campbell handled the pitch. "Rieker is growing at a fantastic rate since we have increased the range of styles" he said.

"They are gaining a wider appeal to a broader range of ages and are going from strength to strength, with some exciting surprises in store for autumn/winter."

Rieker shoes were established in Germany in 1874 and later expanded to the US. Today, the range is available in 60 countries worldwide, including nearly every country in Europe, Russia, middle and far Eastern countries, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US.

Chris Arnold, Feel's creative partner and founder, added: "This is an exciting brand that is challenging the market and growing at a fantastic rate. It's a great opportunity to take part in its success."
