Ricoh launches integrated environmental campaign

LONDON – Ricoh, the office copier-printer firm, has launched its first integrated environmental marketing campaign, which will see customers mailed 'The Resource-full Greener Office Guide'.

Created by Ricoh's agency Edge Ideas, 20,000 customers will be mailed a copy of 'The Resource-full Greener Office Guide', which was designed by the agency and written by leading climate change company Future Forests, set up to help companies and the public understand their contribution to global warming.

Alongside this, Ricoh's national team of engineers will be delivering marketing packs including posters and stickers to go on all copying devices to more than 150,000 clients about its "CarbonNeutral" status.

The campaign will also include advertising in national and trade titles, which will be used to further push its environmental credentials, centring around the CarbonNeutral brand tagline.

To reinforce this environmental message, for every 100,000 copies made by each device, Ricoh will plant a tree dedicated to the customer in one of three new sustainable forestry sites its is helping to establish across the UK.

Richard de Lay, head of marketing of Ricoh UK, said: "We have always considered the environmental impact of our business as of crucial importance and, as part of this, we realise that taking responsibility for our greenhouse gas emissions is key."

The positive action on climate change is being used by Ricoh to pull its many environmental initiatives together into a single communications plan, with the CarbonNeutral brand as the signpost for its environmental best practice.

The campaign will also include advertising in national and trade titles, which will be used to further push its environmental credentials.

Edge Ideas is an integrated ideas agency chaired by Ron Leagas, which was formed three years ago. The agency has handled the Ricoh UK account since its launch. Last year it advertised on TV for first time.

calculates the level of carbon dioxide produced by activities ranging from driving a car to running a business and organises for that to be "neutralised" through sustainable projects around the world including tree planting.
