Customers can sign up to receive free breaking news at www.msn.co.uk/messenger alerts. They can select the type of news they want to receive from top UK stories, world news, entertainment, business, sports and, oddly enough, news.
UK and world news will be delivered hourly via an RSS feed, while entertainment stories, business news and sports updates will arrive every two hours.
Users will also be able to control when and how they receive alerts. They can set time zones and request email delivery of alerts.
