The latest research from Venue Reservations, collated at its venue showcase at Gibson Hall on 23 April, revealed over half of attendees had already booked Christmas parties for 2013 and were planning more events over the next 12 months.

Of the corporate buyers, venue clients and agents who attended the venue showcase, 53% said their budgets for Christmas parties had increased, with a more significant bias of booking traditional venues over contemporary locations.

Jackie Harding, group director of the Crown Group, said: "The research we conduct at our events is shared with the industry to support our clients and venues in their planning. The results this year add to the previous trend of positive growth in the industry."

More than 200 guests who were invited to the showcase event at Gibson Hall were able to gain a broader understanding of the Venue Reservations nationwide portfolio, in addition to sharing industry best practice.

The event, themed as a summer BBQ, included food and canapés provided by Kudos. They included potted smoked salmon and sourdough fingers, and home cured mackerel with beetroot and horseradish.
