Refuge develops support website

Refuge, the charity for woman and children suffering from domestic violence, is planning a major revamp of its website, using funds from its tie-up with the Body Shop.

Refuge.org.uk will become a discreet support portal for all victims of domestic violence and act as the focal point for all Refuge's awareness and fundraising activity. Until now the site was used to provide information to the general public.

Refuge has tasked Manchester agency Code Computer Love to oversee new media activity, following a competitive pitch against five undisclosed agencies.

Funding for the work has been raised through The Body Shop, which has been encouraging consumers to donate old mobile phones to be recycled and to buy Refuge badges.

For every phone handed in, 拢2.75 is donated to the charity as part of the 'Stop the Violence' campaign, which launched last year. As of last month, 21,402 phones had been donated.
