She has taken on the position of senior brand activation manager at The Times and The Sunday Times, and will report to Alex Lewis, marketing director for the two brands.

Refson, a former Harrods marketer, was marketing director at thelondonpaper from its inception in September 2006 until its closure last month.

She was credited with implementing engaging marketing activity during her tenure with thelondonpaper, including brand tie-ups with music events.

She will now oversee promotional activity across the two quality newspaper brands

Refson began her new role this week in a re-structured marketing operation following the shock departure of chief marketing officer Jeremy Schwartz last month.

His exit prompted a reorganisation of senior marketing personnel in which Lewis, a former Sky marketer, and Kathy McAllister, interim marketing director for The Sun and News of the World, took on the top two marketing roles.
