
Refson switched to a role at sister company The Times, following the closure of thelondonpaper in September last year.
She was appointed to the senior marketing role of brand activation manager, working across The Times and The Sunday Times.
Refson reported to Alex Lewis, marketing director for the two brands. She is understood to have left her role at The Times with no job to go to.
Refson, along with the editor of thelondonpaper, Stefano Hatfield, and its managing director Ian Clark, stayed with News International following the demise of the free newspaper.
Hatfield was appointed to the new role of director of ventures, a position that spanned commercial and editorial at The Times.
Clark is understood to have been working on News International's controversial move to shift its news content behind a paywall.
Refson, a former Harrods marketer, was marketing director at thelondonpaper from its inception in September 2006, until its closure. During her tenure with the free newspaper, she was credited with implementing innovative marketing including brand tie-ups with music events.
News International declined to comment on whether Refson would be replaced.
