It was a good month for the Daily Mirror, which was the month's best performer. It was up 3.54% to 1,780,554, followed by the Daily Star, which climbed 1.43% to 863,083. The Sun continued to struggle with a drop of 0.86% to 3,230,332.
The worst performer among the dailies was the Daily Express, which lost 3.03% to fall to 898,396. Mid-market rival the Daily Mail also dropped, by 0.88% to 2,359,003.
In the quality market, recent gainers The Times and The Independent ran out of steam. The Times slipped 0.11% to 684,695 and The Independent rose only 0.4% to 263,043.
They were outshone by The Guardian, which notched up a 1.38% rise to 372,562, while the Financial Times also performed quite well with a 1.05% rise to 431,287.
The Daily Telegraph continued to tread water, registering an extra 0.35% at 915,711.
Daily Star Sunday was the biggest faller by far in the Sunday market, crashing 8.61% to 420,739. Market leader News of the World was up fractionally, rising 0.38% to 3,653,168.
The Sunday Mirror did somewhat better -- it was up 1.05% to 1,545,789. Its stablemate The People was down for the third month in a row, falling 0.94% to 932,200.
The Mail on Sunday was the biggest faller in the Sunday mid-market, crashing 7.63% to 2,252,176. Its rival the Sunday Express by contrast was actually up, if only by 0.8% to 919,416.
Among the quality Sundays, there were a number of fallers led by The Sunday Telegraph and The Observer.
The Sunday Telegraph was down 2.95% to 699,031 while The Observer was down 2.51% to 441,802. The Sunday Times was down 0.68% to 1,349,943 and the Independent on Sunday was down 1.71% to 206,607.
