The Recipe's Mair wins of Professional MasterChef 2011

The Recipe chef Ash Mair was crowned winner of BBC Two's MasterChef: The Professionals last night, beating 40 professional chefs to the title.

The Recipe’s managing director David Wolanski said everyone at the event caterer is "absolutely delighted" for Mair. "We gave him a good send off yesterday before he headed off to watch the final with the production crew and other finalists. 

"This will most certainly open up some exciting doors for him and offer fantastic opportunities to allow him to continue to express his creativity with food," added Wolanski. "We’re looking forward to catching up with him at our Christmas party on Tuesday and we have some exciting projects that we will be working together on in 2012."

Looking to the future, Ash said he plans are to travel to Tasmania for a holiday and to see his family. "When I’m back I’m looking to do some stages in a few top restaurants in the UK and Spain and I'm working on plans for a pop up restaurant too."

MasterChef judge Michel Roux Jr said: "Ash is a supreme talent. He pushes himself to the absolute limit, and always delivers. His food is outstanding."

Mair, 34, has worked with The Recipe since 2007, and was head chef at the caterer for two and a half years. He .
