Raleigh plots assault on Tour de France

LONDON - Raleigh is set for a dramatic comeback into the world of road cycling as it plans a return to the Tour de France.

Raleigh plots assault on Tour de France

The iconic cycle brand will launch a racing team called Team Raleigh in 2010 with the goal of competing in the Tour de France in five years. The Nottingham-based manufacturer won the world's most famous cycle event back in 1980.

The team has applied for UCI Continental status and will initially target the UK based races in a bid to secure an invite to the Tour of Britain & Ireland.

Following this announcement, Raleigh will unveil a series of co-sponsors and a rider roster in coming week. Sponsors will be sourced by sponsorship experts F10 Sponsorship. The team will be managed by Chris Truett.

‘We have some exciting times ahead and I will be looking to make Raleigh the bets team in the UK that everyone wil be talking about...Raleigh is back', he said.
