Radio Times leaders talk about the launch of its first iPad app DiscoverTV

Radio Times, the 90 year old TV and radio listings magazine, has launched its first iPad app, containing all of the week's television, radio and on-demand programmes, as well as exclusive interviews.

The app, created in-house at parent Immediate Media, was available in the Apple App Store from 3pm today and follows a 65 per cent uplift in traffic to the RadioTimes website year on year.

The app is free for users to download, with premium content, such as trailers and video, available free of charge for 30 days.

Ben Preston, the editor of the Radio Times, said: "This is the first app designed for the way viewers watch television now. This is a golden age for quality television. Viewers have never enjoyed so much choice. But we want to make it easier to find the good stuff.

"Everyday Radio Times DiscoverTV will guide you to the very best programmes – whether they're on the traditional main channels, iPlayer, 4oD or new services like Netflix – and help you discover your next favourite show."

In the video above, Tim Glanfield, the editor of RadioTimes.com and Tony Macklin, the director of product development and strategy at Immediate Media, give a sneak peak of the app.

Preston revealed to MediaWeek earlier in the year that the 90 year old brand could also launch its own electronic programme guide for smart TVs.
