The issue, which goes on sale tomorrow (27 November), features the soap’s leading female characters throughout the years, including Elsie Tanner, who was a resident from 1939 to 1973 and then again from 1976 to 1984, and was played by Patricia Phoenix.
The first episode of 'Coronation Street' was broadcast 50 years ago on 9 December 1960. The special issue includes an interview with creator Tony Warren and a feature called "Secret Diary of Gail", which charts the history of the Street, written by 'Coronation Street' scriptwriter Jonathan Harvey.
Kathy Day, publishing director at Radio Times, said: "One always hopes these special editions will boost circulation. Radio Times has a rich history of doing multiple covers and we tend to do them when there is an event happening which will spark the public imagination."
Radio Times has previously published multiple cover issues to tie in with the BBC Dr Who series and the benefit concert event Live 8, held in July 2005.
Day said: "We had a circulation kick when we did the Dr Who covers, as there are some collectors who buy the full set."
Ben Preston, editor of The Radio Times, said: "'Coronation Street' is so much more than a soap opera – for 50 years it’s been a second family for millions. We’ve been captivated by a cast of ordinary people telling funny, poignant stories about their lives, loves and hopes.
"And this week, Radio Times celebrates those indomitable women of Weatherfield with a dozen different covers saluting some of the greatest characters ever to grace our televisions."
The issue also contains a special supplement of Which? magazine, which offers advice on how to choose the best television set on the market.
