Formerly Yahoo vice-president of global sales, Rabe has been with the company for five years and has also headed Yahoo's Search Marketing.
Prior to joining Yahoo, Rabe held several key positions at the online information service About Inc.
Chandlee's October departure was the first in a series of staff moves at Yahoo last autumn, as Stephen Haines, head of agency strategy, and group head Jon Harvey followed Chandlee to Facebook.
Last November, Yahoo UK managing director Jon Gisby also left to join Channel 4 as a dedicated new media director.
Rich Riley, Yahoo senior vice-president of European Advertiser & Publisher Group, said the appointment demonstrated the company's commitment to Yahoo Europe and UK.
