Stewart Atkins will take over from Baker, who leaves in September, but will remain as a consultant to the agency. Atkins has worked for Proximity for three years, having joined when it was formed in 2001. He has more than 18 years' experience working in digital communications development.
At the same time, Proximity has made Owain Cleary digital marketing director. He was formerly digital account director on Royal Mail. In his new job, he will ensure the agency's clients build effective use of digital media into the marketing strategies.
Sean Tweddell has also been promoted from his role of senior producer to digital strategy and planning director.
Chris Thomas, CEO of Proximity London, said: "With clients investing more and more money in digital marketing it makes perfect sense that we reflect that trend and make changes to our resource."
Proximity's digital clients include Save The Children and Eurostar. The changes come into effect immediately.
