Yahoo! UK and Ireland is part of a global internet media company with a brand so familiar you would have to be completely isolated from the information super-highway to have missed it.
Yahoo!, which launched in the UK in 1996, is a diverse web guide, providing access to a wide variety of communications, media, commerce, sports and entertainment channels.
The company, which claims to be the UK鈥檚 leading internet guide, recently lured high-profile names such as Martina King, managing director of TSMS and Jerry Glover, former managing director of
National Geographic channel to develop the company鈥檚 brand image and generate increased revenue through advertising and e-commerce.
Like many new media companies, things change fast at Yahoo! and it expects staff to be flexible in return for 鈥渉uge opportunities鈥.
The good news for job seekers is that the company is about to announce a significant recruitment push, with plans to double the size of its sales, marketing and surfing teams next year.
Yahoo! UK and Ireland will not divulge how many staff it employs, but claims to have a 50:50 male/female ratio.
A spokeswoman said awards schemes were only just starting up, but that opportunities exist to work overseas.
鈥淧eople have transferred across the Atlantic and could potentially work anywhere across the 21 countries that currently have Yahoo! offices,鈥 she said.
鈥淧eople are given great responsibility,鈥 she added. 鈥淎nd because we鈥檙e expanding quickly, opportunities are huge 鈥 for decision-making, ownership and progression.鈥
She said one surprising perk was the chance to play in the London table football league.
