The charity has commissioned not-for-profit design agency Cottier & Sidaway to create a brand identity for the charity's gift packs, which have been designed to appeal to Practical Action's existing and prospective donors.
The organisation has been contacting its 40,000-strong support base since August. However, from now until Christmas, Practical Action is targeting potential donors via a mix of marketing activity, including email and online.
Practical Action's Practical Presents provides consumers with the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts that give long-term support to poverty-stricken people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Tim Sidaway, Cottier & Sidaway creative director, said: "'Design for Good' is what Cottier & Sidaway is all about. The Practical Presents pack is a great example of this in action.
"We created an attractive and effective solution to the brief and also carried this through to the Practical Presents online shop. We are proud to be involved with this exciting project and I believe that it will be successful in raising income for the charity, but also in increasing awareness of Practical Action's work around the world."
Third-world recipients of the gifts are sent a pack including a card and information describing the present and the scheme. Gifts range in price from 拢5 to 拢5,000 and include cycle trailers, small-scale wind turbines and farming training courses.
Practical Action is the new name for the Intermediate Technology Development Group.
