At the time of writing this article Zafferano, who is operating the ice rink in partnership with IMG this winter, was still waiting for the electricians to arrive.
The caterer was set to welcome more than 100 clients, press and corporate organisers for the Cocktails, Canapés and Skating event from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
A source told Event if the problem isn’t resolved soon the ice rink could begin to melt.
Zafferano managing director Julian Saipe said he is working to rig up a mulled wine station on Exhibition Road to warm up those guests that may turn up having already set off.
"The Natural History Museum has been excellent and even offered us the Earth Galleries to hold our event. However, the intention of the event was to showcase the ice rink and our catering services for it. Our intention is to reschedule the event before the season is out and we will be in touch very soon about this," he said.
