Portman targets seaside drinkers

LONDON - The Portman Group is targeting pubs and bars in seaside resorts with an ad campaign highlighting the dangers of binge drinking.

The promotion, breaking in the run-up to the August Bank Holiday, marks the group's latest responsible-drinking initiative.

A set of six collectable beer mats will offer drinkers hints on how they can enjoy a drink without going overboard. Messages include 'Getting off your trolley will make it hard to get home safely. Take it easy. Plan your ride home'.

Posters in pub toilets will reinforce the message. The group is now seeking an ad agency for another anti-binge drinking push.
