The nudie magazine's is inviting female employees to submit shots of themselves either naked or wearing a bikini to "Playboy: Women of Wal-Mart".
In a statement, the publishing company said: "Playboy.com wants Wal-Mart's sexiest assets to roll back their clothes and pose nude. It doesn't matter if the employee is a part-time cashier or a corporate officer, as long as she is a current Wal-Mart employee who is 18 or older."
In May this year, Wal-Mart banned the sale of Maxim, FHM and Stuff, rivals of Playboy magazine, in its stores, saying that customers were "uncomfortable" with them.
Playboy has already hit out at the Wal-Mart ban, by inviting readers to submit their "craziest Wal-Mart sexcapades", and said that it had received more than 900 emails in response. Some of the stories are posted on the site including "Clean-up in Women's Intimates" and "Stockroom Boom".
Wal-Mart attempts to maintain an image as a wholesome family store -- despite the fact it is one of the largest sellers of firearms in the US. The chain has recently been forced to include gays and lesbians in its anti-discrimination employee document after two years of pressure from The Pride Foundation.
Playboy has been attempting to boost its flagging circulation with an advertising campaign this year. Wal-Mart is not the first corporation that the title has targeted. An issue of the magazine published last year featured the "Women of Enron" as its cover story, starring former employees of the energy giant that collapsed amid financial scandal. The magazine has also featured the women of Starbucks.
