Playboy TV readies launch of five sites

Playboy TV is to launch five web sites as part of a six-figure digital strategy aimed at attracting high-profile advertisers.

Richard Gale, head of marketing at Playboy TV, said the firm is seeking to drive revenues from online advertising via a series of branded sites.

Working with web agency Clockworx, the broadcaster is to launch its digital strategy with a flagship site (www.playboytv.co.uk) next month.

"There are a lot of porn sites out there with a bad reputation,

said Gale. "We hope to become the first credible adult network of sites that major brands will advertise on.

"We had 175,000 unique users without any marketing and we're investing now to become a serious online brand."

Playboy TV's Adult Channel site (www.theadultchannel.co.uk) recently ran its first paid-for ad campaign for Telewest's broadband service, blueyonder.

As well as premium-rate dial-in ISP services, the strategy will aim to drive subscriptions for Playboy TV's pay-TV channels.

"We have found that people who subscribe to the TV service online would not have subscribed any other way thanks to its anonymity,

said Gale.
