More than 100 guests attended the event, which was hosted at Ticketmaster’s own event space, The Imperial, in Angel, London. The venue, which has been dubbed by the company as its ‘office pub’, opened in May 2013 after the company moved its international offices to east London.
Guests took advantage of The Imperial’s vintage pinball machines, jukebox and slide, and ate burritos courtesy of Mexican caterer Chilango. The night was hosted by TV presenter and Xfm DJ Phil Clifton, and rock band The Howling performed an acoustic and DJ set.
Music, theatre and sports blogs were all recognised at the event, with 35 blogs nominated across seven categories. Winners were chosen after almost 10,000 votes were cast by Ticketmaster users online. Dots and Dashes took home the award for best new music blog, while West End Wilma was named best theatre blog.
Oliver Primus, editor of best indie and alternative blog The 405, said: "Regardless of the fact that we won an award, I believe that events like this are really important. Music sites and blogs, especially outside of the States, never seem to get the love they deserve, so it's cool that Ticketmaster put something like this together."
Simon Presswell, managing director of Ticketmaster UK, added: "In recent years independent blogs and online publications have taken greater prominence in the entertainment industry, drawing readers away from traditional print media, and now play a vital role in the live entertainment industry.
"As part of our commitment to celebrating this industry, we want to put the spotlight on those that are writing about and celebrating live events for fans across the country."
