The event, which took place last Wednesday (28 May), will now travel to Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan over the forthcoming weeks, before a wider consumer launch in Europe and the US takes place in 2015.
The Project: Immersive Fitness consists of a pop-up fitness studio surrounded by a 360-degree cinema. Participants are surrounded by graphic video content and motivational music, which is synced with their fitness instructor’s directions. Cycling, martial arts and dance workout classes are all on offer for free.
Les Mills Jnr, Les Mills’ programme director, said: "The Project adds a rich visual experience to music and group exercise choreography.
"Participants taking part in a cycle class may find themselves riding up an impossibly steep glacier or sprinting their way around a digital velodrome. In a dance class you might be immersed in a tent at a music festival, where everybody’s dancing together."
The two companies have said the new concept will revolutionise group workout classes by encouraging people to embrace to the physical, social and mental side of fitness.
Matt O’Toole, brand president of Reebok, added: "At Reebok, we are committed to driving the next great evolution in the fitness industry. We’re not content to just accept things the way they are. We want to do it better, and The Project is really just the beginning.
"Along with our partner Les Mills, we are redefining what is possible and taking the in-gym fitness experience far beyond what has existed for the past few decades."
