Westfield London has teamed up with culinary architects Bompas & Parr to stage an immersive cocktail-themed adventure called 'Beyond the Waterfall'.

The experience launched on 9 December, and invites guests into a mermaid's cave, where they step into a wooden boat and sail across a 20m lagoon. Guests are provided with waterproof overalls and umbrellas designed by Emma Shipley to keep them dry as they pass under a waterfall.

Once on dry land, visitors are taken on journey which sees them roving through an Aladdin’s Cave filled with piles of gemstones before arriving at the hidden cavern, where they can exchange shell tokens for a cocktail created specifically for the event.

Led by the hidden cave's glamorous host Ruby, three mermen are on-hand to entertain guests, and bring the stories behind the mixology to life. Guests are able to choose from five bespoke cocktails, including Floating Gold, Sea Air, The Old Man and the Sea, Shipwreck Sour and Cthulhu Margarita.

Myf Ryan, chief marketing officer, Westfield UK and Europe, said: "There is an undeniable cocktail appreciation happening in London right now, with the quest for interesting and bold ingredients leading Londoners to try new and unexpected destinations. In co-creating Beyond the Waterfall with Bompas & Parr we are giving our visitors a unique chance to join us on a multi-sensory mixology adventure; just one of many experiences available across our centres this festive period."

Harry Parr, partner at Bompas & Parr, said: "Creating a watery world founded on millennia-old cultural beliefs, myths and fantasies at this Westfield London experience has allowed us to channel an unlikely but enchanting Christmas experience that avoids all the usual cliches of the season. By drawing together folklore and mysticism with the amazing and untapped potential of the deep blue sea, we're setting a new precedent for bringing people together at Christmas."

The experience will remain open until 23 December.
