The new ride is Europe’s tallest winged rollercoaster, which takes passengers on a death defying flight through an apocalyptic devastation created by an alien race –The Swarm.
Guests arrived to an army escort urging them through to the uncontaminated area of Lake View where a drinks and canapé reception awaited. On the way they encountered a barrage of screeching zombies, a news alert played on a plasma screen and a mock journalist and cameraman. Warning sirens, ambient green lighting, police and armed soldiers enhanced the apocalyptic theme of the evening.
Commotion followed as guests were plunged into darkness and told to get into groups ready to move out. Guests who wanted yet more of a thrill previewed The Swarm and tried several of the park’s other rides, including Saw - The Ride, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus.
At the end of the evening guests left with The Swarm survival kit, which included a grenade, glow stick, torpedoes, a whistle and an emergency thermal blanket.
