The 1,000sqm rink has been set up in the museum’s grounds and is open from 2 November - 6 January 2013.

It has been running since 2005 and includes a carousel and childrens rink this year.

For the first time, a Christmas tree stands in the middle of the rink, decorated with thousands of fairy lights.

Guests including Team GB medallist Mark Hunter and The Only Way Is Essex stars Lydia Bright, Tom Kilbey, Jessica Wright and Ricky Rayment enjoyed canapés and mulled wine from caterer Zafferano at the launch night.

Zafferano is providing all the food for the ice rink, including a hospitality package and café bar with an open-air balcony overlooking the rink. It sells treats like Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Latte and Praline Mocha from the venue’s lead sponsor Starbucks.
