The Sea Odyssey event, from 20 – 22 April, saw French marionette company Royal de Luxe put on a huge street theatre performance based around the Titanic story.
The 9 metre Little Girl Giant emerged from Liverpool’s Stanley Park and a 15 metre Giant Uncle puppet resembling a diver rose up from the water in Albert Dock.
The Titanic was registered in Liverpool and at least 90 members of its crew were from Merseyside or had links to the area.
A third giant was added to the lineup at the last minute: Xolo - a 90kg, 3 metre dog puppet – joined the Little Girl Giant and Giant Uncle puppets to roam the city, telling a story based around the liner’s sinking in 1912.
Liverpool City Council estimates the event brought £12 million in economic impact to the city.
