As part of the deal, two new cafés designed by Foster + Partners will open in summer 2014 coinciding with the IWM London’s redevelopment, which includes an atrium space and the launch of the First World War Galleries.
Peyton and Byrne will operate a 144-seat café with an outdoor seasonal terrace area able to accommodate a further 92 diners, as well as second café located on the venue’s first floor.
The caterer said menus will be based on modern British cuisine.
Peyton said: "Working with IWM and Foster + Partners is a privilege – the significant historical environment is inspiring, and we are excited about the opportunity to collaborate on a completely new way of looking at the visitor experience with the museum team."
Diane Lees, director general of IWM, added: "2014 is a huge year for IWM, and we are really excited that our new and improved museum will fully open to the public in less than a year’s time.
"One of the driving factors in our redevelopment was to improve the experience for our visitors and we are delighted that Peyton and Byrne have come on board, to join us on this journey and run our brand new cafés."
Peyton and Byrne currently holds contracts with Kew Gardens, the Royal Academy of Arts and the National Theatre. Last December it secured £6.25m worth of investment from the Business Growth Fund to help cater at more venues.
