Aardman, the animation studio that has won four Academy Awards, made paints out of household stains and canvases out of school shirts in a painstaking campaign for Persil.
Ogilvy & Mather London was the creative agency behind the ad, which tells the story of two monsters who learn to face their fears and get dirty. The animation was created by painting a frame of the story on a white shirt, washing the shirt, then painting the next frame. This process was repeated 2,576 times by ten artists over the course of three months to complete the ad, which will run in cinemas and online. O&M and Aardman partnered with Kode, the production company.
