PepsiCo recruits footballers for anti-obesity ads

LONDON - Frank Lampard and Thierry Henry will spearhead an anti-obesity ad campaign for PepsiCo as part of the government's wider Change4Life marketing strategy.

The push has been launched by PepsiCo under the banner Play4Life, which is part of the government's .

PepsiCo UK & Ireland houses brands such as Walkers Crisps, Tropicana and Quaker Oats in addition to the famous cola.

The footballers appear in press, online and outdoor ads alongside the strapline "Even the best finishers need someone to start them off".

The campaign was created by PepsiCo's above the line ad agency AMV BBDO, with media handled by OMD.

The ad starring Barcelona striker Henry features the copy: "My influences? Marco van Basten, Maradona. My father".

The activity kicks off at the same as The Department of Health announces in an unlikely move that it is to to push a healthy eating message.

The series, in which the character Homer is famous for his love of donuts and junk food, will feature idents created by Aardman Animations.

The three-month tie up is aimed primarily at adults, with the message that "active parents make active kids".
