In a new strategy for the publisher, Penguin is looking for a digital agency to create a global destination site to promote the autumn publication of the new book.
The book, written by Eoin Colfer, will be published in October to mark the 30th Anniversary of the first publication of the late Douglas Adams' cult literary series. It will be called ‘And Another Thing' and is the sixth novel in the ever-more increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy.
The book is being published in the US, UK, Canada and Australia simultaneously, warranting Penguin's development of a site targeting readers across the globe in the lead up to its release.
In an attempt to bring together fans of the original Hitchhiker books and fans of Eoin Colfer, whose Artemis Fowl titles have sold more than 18 million copies globally, the publisher is tasking an agency with developing a digital presence for the literary event.
Penguin has shortlisted Weapon7, Block Interactive and Archibald Ingall Stretton for the brief.
Penguin's digital marketing director Anna Rafferty said Penguin was being ‘cautious not to alienate anyone' and wanted to attract fans of Colfer, the original series of Hitchhiker books, and newcomers to both authors.
Penguin's sales, marketing, publicity and online teams are working on a campaign that leads readers from the original titles, which are being repackaged by Douglas Adam's publisher Pan Macmillan with new introductions, onto the new book. ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 activity will run in bookstores, online and in the media until Christmas.
