Panasonic launches digital music download service

LONDON - Panasonic is launching a consumer digital music download service to coincide with the arrival of its new MP3 players.

Customers will be able to download tracks and buy hardware including its two latest models, the SVMP120 and SVMP110, from the online Panasonic music store at the  site.

To celebrate the launch, the electronics company is running a 10-day promotion offering customers tracks for 49p each, before returning to the standard price of 79p a download and 1p a stream.

The site is powered by Loudeye's archive of digital music.  Earlier this month, Panasonic Mobile Communications launched a pan-European marketing campaign for its new VS3 phone with a microsite and computer game promoting the handset's high-definition, colour screen.

The VS3 microsite offers visitors the chance to play a colour-themed computer game, with the chance to win one of the phones.
