
Steele will retire on 1 September, ending 35 years with the company in which he has worked within P&G’s North American market development organisation and led the family care, coffee, petcare and snacks businesses. He also led the strategy for the consumer healthcare business.
As Steele steps down, the global heath and wellbeing unit will have its categories split between the two remaining units.
The global oral care and feminine care businesses will become part of the beauty and grooming unit, while the personal healthcare, petcare and snacks will merge into the household care unit.
Charlie E Pierce, group president of the global oral care business, and Steve Bishop, group president of global feminine care, will now report to Ed Shirley, head of global beauty and grooming unit.
Dan Rajczak, senior vice president of global snacks and pet care, and Tom Finn, president of global health care, will report to Dimitri Panayotopoulos, vice chairman of the global household care unit.
The move does not currently impact the UK business. A spokesperson for P&G said: "This is a consolidation of global business units and has no implications on how we operate in the UK – it's simply a global reporting-line change."
