P&G in Boss fragrance sponsorship deal with English Cricket

LONDON - Procter & Gamble is to sponsor English Cricket in a deal with its Boss Fragrance and Boss Skin brands.

As official partners of English Cricket, the P&G brands will be aligned with all facets of the sport.

The agreement includes strategic advertising boards and sight screen advertising coupled with promotional opportunities at all seven of the Test Match grounds - in Durham, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and London.

P&G says cricket is the ideal platform for Hugo Boss products and it will use the tie-up as a means of driving sales and awareness for Boss products.

Chris Chinaloy, brand manager for P&G prestige products, said: "Cricket remains the number one summer sport in the UK, and we are delighted at the prospect of working with English Cricket to drive both our retail and communication needs.

"Boss and Boss Skin have been exploring opportunities that we felt not only met the brand identity, but at the same point offered us genuine stand out from our competitors and mass access to our target audience."

The entrance of the FMCG brands onto the cricket sponsorship map is confirmation of the game's resurgence, according to Mike Vandrau, sales manager at Frontiers Group, the sports marketing company that helped arrange the deal with P&G.

"P&G have many exciting initiatives planned for the remainder of the season and the forthcoming Ashes Series and their involvement further highlights the continued success and growth in popularity that cricket is enjoying.

"We look forward to developing their partnership into a long and fruitful relationship with English Cricket."
